Stan James, a renowned orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine expert, wanted to share his knowledge of knee anatomy. Dr. James, who worked with top athletes like Michael Jordan, had intimate knowledge of anatomical knee structures. Back when airline rules allowed more interesting behavior and when Stan lectured more often, on one occasion he stowed away a human knee in his carry-on bag. Stan used the cadavers as demonstration instruments to point out key features of knee anatomy. Unfortunately for Stan (but maybe not fellow airline passengers), and would-be, future lecture attendees, he can no longer tote fresh cadavers at 35,000 feet. Fortunately for Stan – though – he captured, with photos, the important parts of the cadavers.
